BE A SUPERHERO FOR WORLD DIABETES DAY!

Next Wednesday, 14th November 2018, is world diabetes day.  We will be holding a dress up as a Superhero day to raise funds for research into Type 1 diabetes.  If your child would like to come to school as a superhero, please send in £1.00 donation to this worthwhile cause.  Thank you.

SCHOLASTIC BOOK CLUB

Every family should have received a Scholastic Book Club leaflet last week.  This will be the last leaflet before Christmas!  Our new Scholastic Book Club is up and running on-line. Go to http://schools.scholastic.co.uk/summerfields-primary to browse the latest books and order online. For every £1 you spend on this month’s Book Club, our school will earn 25p in Scholastic Rewards.  Please place your order either online, or via the order form in the brochure, by 23rd November 2018.  Can any paper orders be returned to school by this date via the “Green Box”.  Please note that unfortunately we are unable to accept cash payments.  Payments should therefore be made via debit/credit card or by cheque, which should be made payable to Scholastic Ltd.  Should you have any queries, please do not hesitate to speak to the school office.

PARENTS’ EVENINGS

We hope you found the Parents’ Evenings held this week  beneficial.  Please can all Parental Surveys and Home School Agreements be returned via the “Green Box” by next Friday 16th November 2018.  Thank you.

FLU IMMUNISATION

Just a reminder that the flu immunisations take place next Wednesday, 14th November 2018.  HOWEVER if your child has already received the immunisation elsewhere, please ensure you have contacted the flu immunisation service to let them know that your child no longer requires the vaccination at school.  Thank you.

FRIENDS’ MOVIE NIGHT

Don’t forget to book your tickets for the Friends’ Movie Night next Friday 16th November 2018.  Tickets are £5.00 each and include a hot dog, drink, popcorn and a small sweet treat!  Please can the form and payment be returned, in a named envelope, to the school office asap.  Many thanks.

SCHOOL MEALS

Caterlink have now extended the days that baguettes and jacket potatoes are available.  These will now be available as a choice every day.  However if you would prefer your child to have the hot main meal or vegetarian alternative, please let the office know and they will ensure that your child receives this instead.  In order to receive a baguette, jacket potato or vegetarian option the correct colour slip must be completed and given in to the school office.  Please remember all meals should be paid for in advance, and not arrears, via www.eduspot.co.uk.  Thank you.

UNIFORM

Please can we respectfully remind parents that all children should now be in “winter” uniform.  Therefore everyone should be wearing only GREY socks or tights.  Children should be wearing plain black shoes or boots and not trainers or “fashion” boots with built up heels.  PE kits should be in school EVERY DAY.  We are finding lots of children are missing their PE lessons because they do not have their kit in school.  In addition some children are still coming to school without a coat. Please ensure your child brings a coat to school every day.  Thank you.

WHOLE SCHOOL MINDSET
