WHAT TO DO WHEN YOUR CHILD RETURNS TO SCHOOL AFTER ABSENCE DUE TO ILLNESS
If you child is absent from school please let us know ideally by 9am or by 9:30am at the latest, each day that your child is absent by either:
¨ E-mailing: email@example.com and explaining the reason your child is absent from school (this will negate the need for completing a yellow sickness form on your child’s return)
¨ Telephoning 525085, please select option 1 to leave a reason for your child’s absence
When your child returns to school, unless you have e-mailed with a reason for absence, your child’s absence will be recorded as ’unauthorised’. To ‘authorise’ your child’s absence please complete and return a yellow sickness form, these are located in the school foyer. If you need further clarification please contact the school office. Thank you for your co-operation.

DO YOU SHOP IN WAITROSE?
We are very fortunate to have been offered a ‘green token’ collection box in Waitrose, for the month of FEBRUARY 2018. This means that Summerfields Primary School will have a token collection box which is located at the exit by the tills. Waitrose donate £1000 a month which is shared between the chosen charities depending on the number of tokens collected. The more tokens a cause gets, the bigger the donation they receive. Any donation received from Waitrose will go towards new books and resources for our school library. Please shop in Waitrose during February as much as you can and please pop your ‘token’ into the Summerfields box. Please ask all your friends, family and anyone that you know who shop at Waitrose to put their tokens in our box. Thank you for supporting our school.
We are opening our classrooms next week on Wednesday 31st January for Years R, 2, 4 and 6 and on Thursday 1st February for Years 1, 3 and 5 from 2:30pm—3pm. Everyone welcome, please come along and see what goes on in your child’s classroom.
The Year 1 session was postponed this week due to our visiting Pantomime and will now take place on Tuesday 27th February. More sessions have been arranged for the next few weeks for Years 2 to 4. These are aimed at helping you further support your child at home. If you would like to attend, please return the slips sent home or ask at the school office for more information.
We have received a complaint from one of our neighbours that a parent/relative from school parked in front of their driveway this week whilst waiting to collect their child. The neighbour politely asked the driver of the red ‘Kia’ to move as they were blocking access to their driveway however the driver said they were permitted to park there, and would not move. Please DO NOT park over our neighbours’ driveways. Thank you for your understanding regarding this ongoing parking issue.
