Newsletter 08/18

MESSAGE FROM THE GOVERNORS

A warm welcome back after a (mostly) sunny half-term, we hope you all had a lovely time. We are sure that this half-term will be filled with lots of learning, lots of experiences and lots of opportunities for all year groups. Don’t forget to sign up for Parents Evenings which are being held on Tuesday 6th and Thursday 8th November, as this will give you the opportunity to meet your child’s new class teacher and celebrate their progress so far this year. Whilst waiting for your meeting, please take the opportunity to look around the Hall at the displays.  As Governors, we enjoy coming into school as often as we can in order to see the wide variety of work . A lot of time is taken by the children and staff in creating informative displays for parents and visitors to enjoy which showcase the wide variety of learning within school.   If you have friends or relatives who are currently considering which primary school to apply for next September, please do let them know all about Summerfields. Finally, if you would like to know more about what we, your school Governors do, please take a look at the End of Year Governance Report 2017/18 which can be found on the school website under the Publications/General Information tab. Alternatively, we hope to see many of you at forthcoming school events. On behalf of the Governing Body – Tara Allman (Parent Governor/Vice Chair).

FRIENDS’ OF SUMMERFIELDS

Leaflets have been sent home this week from the ‘Friends’ showing activities and events in the run up to Christmas. Please take the time to read it as there are lots of exciting things to do and take part in.  The first event coming up is ‘Movie Night’ which takes place on Friday 16th November after school, places need to be pre-booked via the slip in the leaflet.

RESPECTING OUR NEIGHBOURS

Please can you respect both Vecta House and our neighbouring households by not parking over peoples driveways or allowing children to run across gardens.  Thank you for your support in this matter.

POLITE REMINDERS

If your child is absent from school due to illness, you are required to complete an Absence Form on their first day back to school.  We would like to remind you that it is your responsibility to complete a form, please do not wait for the office staff to chase you for one.

Please keep noise levels to a minimum whilst waiting with your child before school or picking up after school. The Head Teacher, teachers and the office staff are all busy working before the start of the school day. Thank you for your co-operation.
