ATTENDANCE

The whole school attendance for September was 97.54% which is above our target of 96%.  Class attendance percentages for September were as follows:-

Ellen MacArthur Class           Not available as pupils had a “phased” start to school

King Charles Class                           97.95%

Queen Victoria Class                       98.82%     

Minghella Class                                96.98%

Warrior Class                                    98.44%

Tennyson Class                                95.86%

Charles Dickens Class                     97.94%

Congratulations to Queen Victoria Class who were September’s Attendance Stars!  They were presented with the trophy in today’s Celebration Assembly. 

 

PUPIL APPOINTMENTS

Following a “vigorous” recruitment process, the following appointments have been made this week.  Well done to everyone who applied, you all did very well.

Please note the new names for our houses, which tie in with the new class names of people associated with the Isle of Wight.

 

HOLIDAYS IN TERM TIME

As you are aware Summerfields does not authorise holiday during term time; the hidden cost of lost education is very precious to us. Therefore if you do remove your child from Summerfields resulting in an unauthorised absence, you may be subject to prosecution.

 

MEALTIME SUPERVISORY ASSISTANT VACANCY

School have a vacancy for a Mealtime Supervisory Assistant.  If you know anyone who may be interested, please ask them to speak to the office for an application form and further details.

 

MEDINA COLLEGE OPEN EVENING

Year 6—don’t forget next Tuesday 10th October 2017 is the Open Evening for Medina College from 6.00pm-8.30pm.  There will be a theatre presentation at 6.15pm followed by guided tours of the school.

“TURNING FASHION INTO FOOD”

On Saturday 7th October 2017, the Isle of Wight Foodbank are holding their monthly clothing sale at their headquarters in Love Lane, Cowes.  This will take place from 10.00am-1.00pm.  Along with the clothes sale there will also be tea and cakes and a tombola! 

 

PARENTS VOICE IW FOR SEN AND DISABILITIES

Are you a parent or carer of a child or young person aged 0-25 with special education needs and/or a disability?  Parents Voice IW, the Island’s Parent Carer Forum, would like to invite you to come along to meet members of the team of Local Authority professionals working in SEND on the Isle of Wight.  The meeting takes place on Tuesday 17th October 2017 at 9.30am-12.30pm at the Riverside Centre, Newport.  For further details please contact Jo on 823898 ext 2838 or email Joanne@peoplematteriw.org.
