SCHOOL PHOTOGRAPHER

The photographer will be in school on Wednesday 27th September. Children will be photographed individually and with their siblings who attend Summerfields. We will not be photographing younger siblings or siblings who attend Bright Sparks. Thank you for your co-operation.

REGISTERING FOR FREE SCHOOL MEALS

By registering for free school meals your child could raise an extra £1300 for the school from central government to fund valuable support like teaching resources or after school clubs.  Even if you don’t want your child to receive a free meal, we would encourage you to register if you are eligible so that the school receives as much funding as possible. If your child already gets a free school meal in Year R, Year 1 or Year 2, please still make an application as the school will benefit. To find out if your child may be eligible, please contact the school and ask for Mrs Murphy. If you would like some help in completing the application form, Mrs Murphy, the school Family Liaison Officer, will be more than willing to assist and will help you through the online process.

LETTERS SENT HOME THIS WEEK

The following letters have been sent home this week:

Year 5 Sleepover letter

Photograph letter (please return by 29th September)

Medical letter (please return by 29th September)

School Packed Lunch letter

CHOCOLATE SPREAD

A letter was sent home this week asking parents not to send your children to school with chocolate spread sandwiches as we now have several children who have life threatening allergies. Since then we have had a child tell a member of staff that their sandwich filling was marmite however the sandwich was filled with chocolate spread.   Please do not encourage your child to lie.  These measures have been put in place for the safety of children at Summerfields Primary School which we take very seriously.

HOLIDAY REQUESTS

We have already received a large number of requests for children to be taken out of school for a family holiday.  As you are probably aware Summerfields does not authorise holidays during term time; the hidden cost of lost education is very precious to us. If you choose to take your child out of school for an unauthorised holiday we will notify the Education Welfare Service and a Fixed Penalty will be issued of £60 per parent per child.  I know that this may not be what parents want to hear, but trust that you understand the school’s position.
