Welcome to the Summerfields Newsletter. A special warm welcome to all the new children who have joined our school this term in Reception Class and other classes in school. We would also like to welcome Miss Caitlin Jacobs who is a student teacher working in Year 3 this term.
This newsletter is published weekly on a Friday and contains lots of important information about school. Some information is ONLY printed in the newsletter, such as important dates for your diaries and forthcoming events. The easiest way to receive this is by email. You can do this by visiting the school’s website at www.summerfieldsprimary.co.uk and following the link at the bottom of the page. However if you do not have access to a computer or mobile device, paper copies are also available from the school lobby on a Friday afternoon.
DATES FOR YOUR DIARIES
Please see the reverse of this newsletter for important dates for the coming half term. Please note that these dates are only a guideline and may be subject to change. We have also included the term dates for the rest of this year for your information.
Please remember that if your child is unwell and unable to come to school you must telephone the school absence line on 525085 before 9.30am. Alternatively, you can email the school office at email@example.com by 9.30am instead. School has to account for the whereabouts of every pupil every day, so the office has to contact parents of any child not at school that day. Please therefore assist us by letting us know that your child is unwell rather than us contacting you. Thank you for your co-operation.
Caterlink have now taken over responsibility for the provision of school meals at Summerfields. The daily cost of a meal has gone down to £1.85, £9.25 per week. Can we please respectfully remind parents that from now ALL meals must be paid for in advance via www.schoolmoney.co.uk. You must therefore provide your child with a packed lunch if your dinner account is not in credit. For details of how to pay online or via paypoint please see the school office. We would especially like to encourage children in Years R to 2 to take up the offer of free school meals under the Universal Infant Free School Meal programme. Thank you.
100% ATTENDANCE — WELL ALMOST
School would have had 100% today. However unfortunately just one child was away on an unauthorised holiday. What a shame but well done and thank you everyone else.
Just a reminder that ALL asthma inhalers in school need to be accompanied by the box containing the pharmacy label showing to whom the inhaler is prescribed. Unlabelled inhalers should not be sent to school as they can easily be mixed up and the doses required can differ.
Well done to everyone who took part in the Newport and Ryde Carnivals. We came second in Newport and third in Ryde, against lots of competition! Thank you to parents and staff for all their hard work at Carnival Club in making this such a great success. A special “thank you” to Mrs Downer, Miss Sheaf, Mrs Bast and Mrs Webb for all their hard work in running Carnival Club last term.
