KS2 PRODUCTION

Don’t forget everyone is welcome to the dress rehearsal of “Dragon Days”, the Key Stage 2 production, on Monday 10th July 2017 at 1.30pm.  Younger pre-school children, grandparents, aunts and uncles are all most welcome.  Please remember that the evening performances are for ADULTS only and are strictly ticketed events due to health and safety.  Some spare tickets are still available, please see the office as soon as possible if you would like to purchase any.

MARDI GRAS

Well done to everyone who took part in the Mardi Gras last Saturday in Ryde.  The parade was unbelievably colourful and the children did a fantastic job with their singing and dancing all the way round.  Thank you to the members of staff who made this possible due to all their hard work —Mrs Downer, Mrs Bast, Miss Sheaf and Mrs Daly.  Thank you also to all the parents who attended Carnival Club and put in such a huge effort to make this event so successful.  If you were not able to see the Mardi Gras, try and make sure you see Newport Carnival on Saturday 22nd July 2017 which we will also be taking part in.

SPORTS DAY

Thank you to everyone who attended our Sports Day and family picnic this week.  We hope you all enjoyed this fun day.  Thank you to the Friends of Summerfields for providing the refreshments, they raised over £90.00! Well done to Arctic House who were our Sports Champions this year.

CORRESPONDENCE

Letters you may have missed this week are:-

Year 6  – Leavers’ Breakfast—Year 6 have been invited to have breakfast at school on Wednesday 19th July 2017 at 8.45am

We are really sorry to have to “moan” again but the office is spending lots of precious time continually chasing parents for the return of slips and payments for trips and events.  School tries to organise exciting and fun trips for children, doing risk assessments, working out adult to children ratios, booking transport, etc.  If slips and payment are not returned by the deadline then this can cause lots of extra work re-doing all of this.  Therefore unfortunately if you do not make payment or return permission slips by the deadline stated, your child will be unable to go on the trip.  We have been very “generous” recently; unfortunately from now on we will not be so kind and children will remain at school.

DINNER MONEY

Please can we respectfully remind everyone that ALL outstanding dinner money must be paid before we break up on Friday 21st July 2017.  As per our previous letter, from September all dinner money must be paid in advance and not arrears.  You must therefore provide your child with a packed lunch if your dinner money account is not in credit.

PIANO LESSONS

We have been approached by a piano teacher who is interested in visiting Summerfields to give lessons.  If your child is interested in learning the piano, please speak to the school office. Thank you.

ARCHAEOLOGY DAY

There is free entry to Newport Roman Villa on Saturday 15th July 2017 from 11.00am to 3.00pm to celebrate the festival of archaeology.
