SCHOOL CLOSED TOMORROW
School is closed for staff development tomorrow and will reopen on Monday 5th June 2017. We hope that you have a relaxing half term holiday and come back to school refreshed and ready for learning.
MAIN ENTRANCE FOYER
Due to noise levels in the school foyer in the mornings before school starts, we shall be changing our opening procedures after half term. From Monday 5th June 2017 the outer doors to the main entrance will be open to parents and pupils at 8:35am. If you arrive before this time, please wait outside Year 5/6 classrooms. Staff and visitors arriving for appointments etc. will still have access to the main entrance prior to opening at 8:35am. Thank you for your co-operation.
Please can you save ‘fashion hairstyles’ such as ‘tramlines’ for the summer holidays. These types of hair cuts are unsuitable in school. Thank you for your understanding.
ISLE OF WIGHT FESTIVAL
As in previous years, Docklands Traffic Management (DTM) are in charge of access and parking controls on our estate for the duration of the Isle of Wight Festival. From Wednesday 7th to Monday 12th June, access will only by available via Halberry Lane/Cross Lane and fixed barriers will be placed on Fairmount Drive and Mayfield Drive to Staplers Road. Parking restrictions will be enforced on the estate by the Council’s Enforcement Officers. Should you have queries regarding the arrangements, the DTM site office will be situated at the corner of Halberry Lane and Harvey Road from Saturday 3rd June 2017 between the hours of 10:00 to 13:00 and 18:00 to 20:00.
If you need to drive your child to school during the festival period please collect a parking permit from the school office on Monday 5th June 2017. Permits are limited (one per family) and strictly for dropping off and collecting your child from school. They will be valid for the start and end of the school day only and will be marked accordingly. Therefore the permits cannot be used to park on the estate if attending the festival.
ACCESS TO THE SCHOOL ON POLLING DAY
Summerfields Primary School will be closed to pupils on Thursday 8th June 2017 as it is to be used as a polling station. If you need to drive to vote on Polling Day you will need to show your polling card to gain access through the barriers (in operation due to the festival).
Advance notice that school will be finishing at 1:30pm on Friday 9th June. Please ensure that your child is collected promptly. Thank you.
STAR PUPIL ASSEMBLY
This will be held at 8.50am on Friday 9th June, due to the early finish that day.
POMPEY IN THE COMMUNITY
The football after school club has now finished for this term and will resume again in September.
NOTIFICATION OF PUPIL ABSENCE FROM SCHOOL
We are happy to receive e-mails advising of your child’s absence from school due to illness etc. This would act as written confirmation of their absence and you wouldn’t need to complete a yellow sickness form on their return. Please e-mail the school office at:
firstname.lastname@example.org by 9:30am on the first and any subsequent days of absence. You can of course still leave a message on our answerphone if this is preferable.
