MESSAGE FROM THE CHAIR OF GOVERNORS

Dear parents, you will all be receiving a letter today, inviting you to stand as a Parent Governor.  Please can you give this strong consideration, as we currently need more Governors to fill our vacancies.  It is a position that suits all sorts of people, who combine as a team to help provide strong leadership and direction for the school.

Here are just a few advantages of being a Governor:

¨ It is a chance to use your skills to benefit and help shape your child’s school

¨ There are many training opportunities to help you learn new skills

¨ It is excellent on your CV.

If you want to know more, please contact me through the school or email Tony.Murphy@summerfields.iow.sch.uk .

Tony Murphy, Chair of Governors

MUFTI DAY

Your child can come dressed in mufti clothes next Friday, 5th May in return for a £1 donation. Please also remember to send your child to school in sensible shoes. All money raised will go towards buying items to sell at the May Fayre which will be on 12th May.

MESSAGE FROM THE SCHOOL COOK

Due to delivery issues there may be changes to next week’s menu.  The cook will therefore be putting any changes on the menu board located by the school kitchen.  Sorry if this causes any inconvenience.

SCHOOL CLOSED FOR POLLING STATION

Apologies for the short notice, the school is required as a polling station for the General Election on Thursday 8th June and will be closed to pupils.  Unfortunately the Earl Mountbatten Hospice was unavailable so school had to step up on this occasion. We have had assurances that in future, the Hospice will be the first choice as a polling station.

SUMMER UNIFORM

Just a reminder that children can now wear Summer uniform.  For boys this is grey shorts with grey socks and not white, or any other colour.  Girls can wear  short sleeve dresses in light blue, light pink, lilac or yellow, (striped or checked), with white ankle or long socks.  If girls wear grey skirts or trousers they must wear grey socks.  Everyone should also still wear plain black shoes with no open toes.  Summer uniform can be worn right up to October half term.

LETTER TO PARENTS

Please look out in your child’s book bag for a letter from the Head Teacher regarding school visits.

SCHOOL DINNER MONEY

Thank you to those parents who regularly top up their child’s schoolmoney.com account, keeping a check to see if they owe for any dinners or school trips etc. There is however an amount of £200 unpaid dinner money. Could we respectfully remind parents that dinner money needs to be paid in advance so that a debt does not occur on accounts.  If you need help using schoolmoney.com or have forgotten your password, please contact the school office.  Thank you for your co-operation.

WATER BOTTLES

As we are now in the summer term and the weather is warming up, please ensure that your child brings a water bottle to school every day.

CLASS PHOTOGRAPHS

Your child has this week brought home a class photograph proof.  If you wish to make a purchase please return your order with the correct amount of cash or a cheque made payable to ‘Cardwell & Simons’, writing your child’s name and class on the back of the cheque.  Please place any orders in the ‘green box’ by Tuesday 9th May.
