PAN MILL DESIGN COMPETITION

Thank you for all the wonderful competition entries which school has received.  This competition has now closed and once all the entries have been judged, we will let you know who the winner is!

STAY & READ

Our “Stay and Read” session this half term takes place next Friday, 17th March 2017.  Why not stay for just 15 minutes at 8.45am to share your or your child’s favourite book with a small group of children?  Unfortunately the last few sessions we have held have been quite poorly attended.  If you could give up just a little bit of time to stay it would be very much appreciated.  We look forward to seeing you then.

DATE FOR YOUR DIARY

Year 3 assembly takes place next Thursday, 16th March 2017, at 2.50pm.  All welcome.

FRIENDS OF SUMMERFIELDS—CINEMA NIGHT

As you are all probably aware the Friends are shortly holding a cinema evening for children.  This event has been so popular that it has SOLD OUT!  Please therefore do not just “turn up” on the night. If you have been contacted and asked to pay for your child’s ticket, can you please ensure that the slip and payment are returned as soon as possible.  The showing of Trolls will take place at 4.30pm on Friday 17th March 2017.  If you have any queries, please speak to the office.

YEAR 6 SATS MEETING

Thank you to the parents who attended the Year 6 SATs meeting held by Mr Simpson on Tuesday 28th February 2017.  We hope you found this session useful.  As promised the PowerPoint presentation, including the list of useful websites, has now been put on the Summerfields school website.

SCHOLASTIC BOOK CLUB

Every family should have received a Scholastic Book Club leaflet this week.  Please can all orders be returned to school by Wednesday 22nd March 2017 at the latest via the “Green Box”.  Remember payment can only be made by cheque or debit/credit card—no cash please!  Thank you.

JACKET POTATOES

Just a reminder that if your child would like a jacket potato instead of the main or vegetarian option, then an orange slip MUST be completed.  Simply saying jacket potato in class is not enough, as the orange slips are given to the kitchen to cook potatoes for those children.  The slips are available from the school lobby.  As you are all aware jacket potatoes are not available as an option on a Friday and now due to the number of roast dinners on a Wednesday,  jacket potatoes will no longer be available on this day either.

WALK THE WIGHT

Click here for this year’s “School’s Walk the Wight” registration form.  Summerfields only organise our pupils taking part every other year, so if your child would like to enter this year, please complete this form and then send or take it directly to the Earl Mountbatten Hospice.  Paper copies are also available from the school office.  Thank you.

OUR BEST WORK

This week we return to England Class, who have been reading The Blue Penguin.  Click here to see their beautiful pictures.

Looking for additional income?

Are you are qualified teacher or teaching assistant or do you have a university degree, TEFL qualification or similar?  Families are currently being looked for who could accommodate a foreign student, usually aged 12 – 19, during the summer.  The students are mainly from France and usually stay for 2 weeks.  To be able to be a host family, you will need to have a spare room, be able to provide 3 meals a day and teach English for 2-3 hours a day in your own home.  Earnings would be between £300-400 a week.  For more information please contact Andy Buxton on 07932 782890 or email homelanguageiow@gmail.com.
