Sponsored Pancake Obstacle Course
On 28th February 2017, Shrove Tuesday, Friends will be holding a Sponsored Pancake Obstacle Course for children in all years after school. Sponsor forms for the event went home earlier this week. Please could we ask that all sponsor money is returned securely in envelopes via the “green box”. Thank you.
We are very sorry to have to “moan” again but school is finding that dinner money is not being paid weekly and unfortunately some families have a large amount of dinner money now owing. School cannot afford to have this debt. Therefore in future, if you have more than a week’s dinner money owing, £10.75, your child will not be allowed to have a school dinner until that amount is cleared. You will be contacted and advised that they will have to bring a packed lunch into school until the debt is cleared; if they do not you will be phoned and asked to bring a packed lunch in for them. Please therefore ensure you remember to pay for your child’s school dinners weekly.
This week we received a phone call from a parent informing us that as she drove down Staplers Road children from Summerfields were throwing stones at cars. This is absolutely unacceptable behaviour and the Police will be called if this should occur again. If your child walks to school alone, please speak to them about how dangerous this could be for the car drivers and themselves. Thank you.
We have had a plea from a parent about drum lessons. Unfortunately Wight Music Tuition are unwilling to travel to Summerfields to give drum lessons to one child. Therefore if you have a child who is interested in learning to play the drums, please ask at the school office for further details including costs, etc.
PHONICS SUPPORT SESSION
Thank you to the parents from Years R and 1 who attended the phonics and reading workshop held on Tuesday this week. We hope you all found this a useful session to help you support your children at home. Thank you to Mrs Luke and Miss Vine for organising this event.
Letters went home this week about similar sessions to be held next term to support children with Maths at home. These will take the format of Family Learning where parents and children will attend the session together. This is for children in Years R to 4.
PAN MILL DESIGN CHALLENGE
Following a recent assembly held, everyone should have received details of the above challenge this week. Please can all designs be returned to school after half term by Friday 3rd March 2017.
