BRIGHTENING UP THE SCHOOL

We need your help!  Mrs Avey has very kindly offered to paint a mural on the outside brick wall of the school.  To do so she needs some help painting weather boards white. School also have some lovely wooden fish that need preserving and painting. If you can give up an afternoon to help, please let the office know and we can put your time to good use!

ABSENCE FROM SCHOOL

If your child is absent from school due to illness please leave a message on the school’s answerphone giving your child’s name, class and reason for absence by 9am.

Please also remember to complete a yellow sickness form on your child’s return as any absence will be marked as unauthorised until a sickness form has been received. The forms can be found in the foyer in a wall file next to the ‘green box’. Thank you.

TEXTING TO PARENTS

As the school has got bigger (we are now nearly at full capacity), rather than always contacting families by letter, we will be increasing the use of our texting service “Teachers to Parents”.  However we have made the decision this year not to pass on the cost of this service to parents.  It is therefore imperative that we hold an up to date mobile telephone number for EVERY family.  If we do not hold a mobile number then you will miss important information about school trips, dinner money, Head Teacher’s awards, etc.

UPDATED BEHAVIOUR POLICY

The school behaviour policy has been updated and is now available to view on the school website.  Please take time to read this important document.

YEAR 7 OPEN EVENINGS

We have been advised that Medina College is holding an Open Evening for September 2017 student intake on Tuesday 11th October 2016 from 6.00pm to 8.30pm with a presentation in the theatre at 6.15pm.  Carisbrooke College are holding their own evening on Thursday 6th October 2016 between 5.00pm and 8.00pm with a welcome and introduction at 6.30pm.

STAY AND READ

We are again offering parents/carers of pupils in Years 1 to 6 the opportunity to ‘stay and read’ with their child on Friday 14th October from 8:45am—9:00am.

P.E. KITS

We are already finding a number of children saying they have forgotten their P.E. kits.  Unfortunately we just do not have enough spare kit to let children use, this is especially so with trainers/plimsols. Therefore if children forget their P.E. kit they will do the lesson in their school clothes; this may involve football or rugby skills on muddy school fields.  School would not be responsible for cleaning any muddy shoes or clothes.  PLEASE MAKE SURE YOUR CHILD HAS THEIR P.E. KIT IN SCHOOL EVERY DAY.

STAFF CAR PARK BLOCKED BY PARKED CAR

A car has parked across the entrance to the staff car park on several occasions this week.  This access to school is not only used for staff vehicles but also for ambulances, fire engines and other emergency vehicles.  If the entrance is blocked again we shall have no alternative than to contact the police.

POLITE NOTICE

We would respectfully remind you that staff start their working day well before the school is open to children and would appreciate anyone waiting in the foyer to keep noise to a minimum.  We have had several occasions this week when staff have found it difficult to hear when answering the telephone due to children screaming and shouting. Please remember that parents are responsible for their children before the school day starts. Thank you for your co-operation.

OUTSTANDING DOCUMENTATION

Please send any data collection, home school agreements or medical forms to the school office as soon as possible as the deadline for return of all forms is today.
