Newsletter 3/16

Next Wednesday, 28th September 2016, Cardwell and Simons will be in school taking individual portrait photographs.  Siblings in school will also be photographed together.  Please note unfortunately we are unable to have photographs taken of babies, Bright Sparks or non-Summerfields children.  Thank you.

We have been advised that Medina College is holding an Open Evening for September 2017 student intake on Tuesday 11th October 2016 from 6.00pm to 8.30pm with a presentation in the theatre at 6.15pm.  Carisbrooke College are holding their own evening on Thursday 6th October 2016 between 5.00pm and 8.00pm with a welcome and introduction at 6.30pm.

Every family should this week have received a Scholastic Book Club leaflet.  Please can all Book Club orders be returned to school by next Wednesday 28th September 2016 via the “Green Box”.    Please can payment be made by cheque, debit or credit card — no  cash please.  Thank you.

Thank you to everyone who has already returned the medical forms, photography permission forms, home/school agreements and data collection sheets.  Please can all outstanding forms be returned by 30TH SEPTEMBER 2016 at the latest.  Please remember to keep school informed of any changes especially emergency contacts.  Updated information can be given to the office.

Please note school will be CLOSED to pupils on Monday 24th and Tuesday 25th July 2016.  Therefore school will close for the Summer holidays at 2.00pm on Friday 21st July 2016.

As the school has got bigger (we are now nearly at full capacity) rather than always contacting families by letter, we will be increasing the use of our texting service “Teachers to Parents”.  However we have made the decision this year not to pass on the cost of this service to parents.  It is therefore imperative that we hold an up to date mobile telephone number for EVERY family.  If we do not hold a mobile number then you will may important information about school trips, dinner money, Head Teacher’s awards, etc.

Please can we remind parents that children are expected to go out even if it is “drizzling” at lunch and break times.  Please therefore ensure that they bring a named coat to school every day.  Thank you.

The office would like to say a big “thank you” to everyone for now paying their child’s dinner money on-line.  Please remember ALL money paid to school should now be via  If you require any assistance with this, please see Mrs Dyer in the office.  If you do not have access to pay online, then we can provide you with a Pay Point bar code to pay at lots of shops locally.  Again please see Mrs Dyer for further details.

Please remember that for health and safety reasons earrings need to be taken out for P.E. Unfortunately it is not acceptable to cover them with plasters. For this reason we ask that you consider the time of year you get your child’s ears pierced.  Missing 6 weeks of P.E. is a lot, however if you work around a holiday you can cut down on the amount of P.E. missed considerably.  Thank you for your support.

There is a blood doning session next Tuesday 27th September 2016 at the Church of the Latter Day Saints, Shide Road, Newport from 1.30pm to 5.30pm.

1st game, Summerfield v Shafleet. Soon after the whistle blew Archy got the ball and set Adam up but he sadly missed. In the end it was 0-0.

Next game we played St. Thomas had an attack but it was shortly ended when Matthew came out to clear his line. When the ball was about to land, Archy got the touch and sprinted down the right and whipped it in to Cain but he missed the ball but Adam was there to volley it home! In the end it was 1-0.

This was our last game, we were against Nineakers. It started off slow but it picked up when Archy suddenly got the ball and shot he scored! A few minutes later, Louis passed to Cain and Cain put it in bottom corner. We won 2-0.

Sadly we came 2nd, Shafleet beat us by one goal.
