 MRS RUTH WITCHARD

As some of you may be aware, Mrs Ruth Witchard, England Class Teacher, has decided to retire at the end of this term.  Mrs Witchard has taught at Summerfields for over 20 years and we will really miss her when she goes but hope she will come back and see us frequently.  If you would like to give a contribution to a leaving present for Mrs Witchard, please see the office.

KEY STAGE 2 PRODUCTION

A letter has gone out this week about the Key Stage 2 production of Cinderella & Rockerfella!  Tickets will be issued on a strictly “first come, first served” basis with  only 2 tickets per family in the first instance.  Please return your requests with payment as soon as possible via the “Green Box”.  Any spare tickets requested will be allocated after MONDAY 4TH JULY 2016, so please can all requests be submitted before this date to avoid disappointment.  Remember grannies, grandads, aunties and uncles plus younger siblings are welcome to come to the Dress Rehearsal on Monday 11th July 2016 at 1.30pm — no tickets are required for this performance.  Allocated tickets will be sent home via your child; if you are successful in getting spare tickets you will be contacted and asked to come in and pay for them.  Thank you for your co-operation.

SUMMER FAYRE

Don’t forget to come along to the Summer Fayre this evening from 5.00pm-8.00pm.  There will be lots of stalls and fun activities for everyone on the field.  Thank you to the Friends of Summerfields for organising this event.

STAY AND READ

Thank you to the parents that stayed today for our “Stay and Read” session.  These have been very popular with both parents and children and we hope to carry them on from September.

PLAYTIMES

The School Council has spent some time planning how we could make playtimes even better.  To do this we are asking each family to donate one of the following items:- toy cars, yo-yos, card games including things like Top Trumps and Old Maid and comics.  If you are having a good “sort out” or feeling more generous, then car mats and table top games like 4 in a row, would also be appreciated.  Please only send in good quality toys and games but second-hand is absolutely fine!  Thank you in anticipation.

SPORTS DAY AND FAMILY PICNIC

All lunches for the family picnic on Sports Day, Wednesday 13th July 2016, had to be booked by last Wednesday 29th June 2016.  Therefore if you have not booked your child a lunch, you will need to provide them with a packed lunch from home that day.  Even if the weather is unkind we will still have the picnic in the school hall but it will be very cramped!  Parents should arrive at 12 noon to enjoy the family picnic with their children before the races begin!

ISLE OF WIGHT FOODBANK

On Saturday 2nd July 2016 the Isle of Wight Foodbank are holding their monthly preloved clothing sale.  This is being held at the Foodbank headquarters at Love Lane, Cowes, from 10.00am-1.00pm.

YELLOW SICKNESS SLIPS

Please remember a yellow sickness slip must be completed on your child’s return to school following an illness even if you have contacted school to let us know your child is unwell.  These slips are NOT to be used for any other absence apart from illness.
