CELEBRATION ASSEMBLY

Until the end of term, celebration assemblies every Friday will now be from 2:45pm to 3:00pm.

 

WALK THE WIGHT 2016

A huge thank you to the families that have returned their sponsor money. You have raised. on behalf of Summerfields Primary School, over £2500 so far.  If you have registered and you have not yet returned your sponsor money, please could you do so as soon as possible.  Children will shortly be presented with their medals.

 

STAY AND READ

There will be another opportunity for you to stay and read with your child on Friday 1st July.  We welcome any parents/grandparents/relatives to come along but please be reminded that the sessions will be for 15 minutes only between 8:45am and 9:00am.  Thank you.

 

WWII EVACUEE LIVING HISTORY EVENT

Year 4 had a wonderful time at Havenstreet Railway this week when they took part in the WWII Evacuee Living History event. All the children and staff made a fantastic effort to dress up in clothes from the 1940’s, they  looked amazing!

 

NEW YEAR R PUPILS FOR SEPTEMBER

Children that will joining the school in Year R have visited the school this week. They have met their new classmates and have seen how the school day is run.  They have thoroughly enjoyed their time in school and we look forward to welcoming them back for their start in September.

 

YEAR 6 LEAVERS’ ASSEMBLY

Advance notice that this year’s leavers’ assembly for Year 6 children will take place on the last day of term, Wednesday 20th July.  Year 6 family members will be invited to attend, official invitations will be sent out nearer the time.

 

SCHOLASTIC BOOK CLUB

Scholastic Book Club leaflets were distributed last week.  Please can any orders be returned to school via the “green box” by Wednesday 29th June 2016.  Books must be paid for by cheque or debit card only, no cash please.  Please note cheques should be made payable to Scholastic and not Summerfields.  Thank you.

 

SPORTS DAY AND FAMILY PICNIC

Reminder—All orders for school picnics must be returned by Wednesday 29th June 2016.  If your child is not entitled to a free school meal but you wish to purchase a school picnic, the cost is £2.15.  Again please return the slip and arrange payment accordingly.  If any slips are received after this date they will be returned and you will have to provide your child with their own lunch.  If you have any queries please do not hesitate to speak to the school office.

 

BIRTHDAY CELEBRATIONS IN SCHOOL

We have received several requests to hand out cakes and sweets etc. to a whole class when a child’s birthday falls on a school day.  Although this is a very kind gesture, we cannot allow this as we are a ‘healthy’ school and have to think about children who may have allergies.

 

PARENT VOICE IW

Parent Voice will be holding a coffee morning on Thursday 30th June from 9:30am—12:30pm at the Bebeccino Café, 14B High Street, Newport. The morning will focus on communicating with your child and a guest speaker will introduce Makaton signing.

 

AMAZON WORLD VISIT

Year 3 visited ‘Amazon World’ this week. Despite the wet weather, the children a great time and had the opportunity to see all the animals. They were great representatives for the school.

 

SPELLINGS OF THE WEEK

Key Stage 1 Spelling of the Week is “have”.

Key Stage 2 Spelling of the Week is “without”.

 

WHOLE SCHOOL TARGET

Take your seat. Show others you know when you should be sitting on your chair.
