ISLAND ROADS

We have been advised by Island Roads that at some point between 31st May 2016 and 24th June 2016 they will be resurfacing Atkinson Drive.  The area to be resurfaced will be “coned off” the night before.  Please therefore DO NOT park in a coned area, even just to “drop your child off”.  While the works take place the road will be completely closed.  Please therefore ensure you allow extra time for your journey to and from school.

POMPEY IN THE COMMUNITY

Pompey in the community will again be running their ever popular football sessions after school on a Tuesday from 3.00pm-4.00pm next half term.  The first session is 7th June 2016 for six weeks to 12th July 2016.  Places should be booked directly with Pompey in the Community on 02392 728899 or via www.pompeyitc.co.uk.

YEAR 6 TRIP TO LONDON

A big “thank you” to all the staff who organised and took Year 6 on the trip to London this week to see the Lion King.  The trip also included a cruise down the River Thames, a tube ride and a meal out!  Everyone had a fantastic time.  Thank you.

2017-2018 SCHOOL TERM DATES

We have been advised by the Isle of Wight Council that the school term dates for the 2017-2018 academic year have now been agreed.  There is a copy of this calendar on our Documents page.  Remember school term dates can always be accessed via the Isle of Wight Council’s website at www.iwight.com.

CITIZENS ADVICE—ISLE OF WIGHT

Citizens Advice is now able to provide a Tax Advice Service to assist Island residents.  This is for residents  who need help with their Child and Working Tax Credits and/or assistance with PAYE, Self-Employment or any other tax issues.  Appointments can either be face to face or they can offer help and guidance on the telephone without long waiting times.  This is a personal service with trained tax advisers.

ISLE OF WIGHT FESTIVAL

As in previous years, Docklands Traffic Management (DTM) are in charge of access and parking controls on our estate for the duration of the Isle of Wight Festival.  From Wednesday 8th June 2016 access will only be available via Halberry Lane/Cross Lane and fixed barriers will be placed on Fairmount Drive and Mayfield Drive to Staplers Road.  Parking restrictions will be enforced on the estate by the Council’s Civil Enforcement Officers.  Should you have any queries regarding the arrangements, the DTM site office will be situated at the corner of Halberry Lane and Harvey Road from Friday 3rd June 2016.

THE QUEEN’S 90TH BIRTHDAY PICNIC

Thank you to everyone who has returned their slips regarding our Family Picnic in honour of HM The Queen’s 90th Birthday.  If you have not returned your slip, you will need to provide your child with their own packed lunch that day, as the food has to be ordered during half term.  We look forward to seeing you all at 12 noon on Friday 10th June 2016; due to the parking restrictions we do suggest you walk to school.  Children can be taken straight after afternoon registration at 1.00pm and all children MUST be collected by 1.30pm at the latest.

TRIPS AND SLIPS

Next half term is traditionally very busy with lots of school trips and exciting events for the children to take part in.  Please can we respectfully ask that slips, payments etc are returned promptly to avoid the office spending time chasing up replies.  Remember ALL payments, including school dinners, should now be made via school money at www.schoolmoney.co.uk and cash should no longer be sent into the school office.  If you require any assistance with this, speak to Mrs Dyer in the office who will only be too pleased to assist.   Thank you for your co-operation.
