The roast dinner next week will be on THURSDAY and not Wednesday. We would like as many children as possible who are eligible for a free school meal to have this lunch. Therefore every child in Year R, 1 and 2 will be given this meal UNLESS we are advised otherwise beforehand. The menu is as follows:-
Roast Gammon or Cheese and Red Pepper Pastry, Roast Potatoes, Seasonal Vegetables, Ice Cream
The menu for Wednesday will now be:-
Mince and Rice or Sweet Potato and Squash Stew, Roasted Vegetables, Wild Berry Fool
Please note jacket potatoes WILL also be available as a separate choice. Please remember to let the office know if your child WOULD NOT like this lunch.
Thank you to all the parents who have started to use our new online payment system for paying for school dinners. This system is also being used for all school trips. This week a letter went to Year 6 regarding their planned trip to London in May. Payments for this trip can now be made online. The whole amount does not have to be paid in one go, you can pay by instalments if you wish, just remember to change the figure to the amount you wish to pay. If you require any assistance, or a password reminder to access the system, please speak to Mrs Dyer in the office. The Year 5 residential to Kingswood in June has also recently been included in this system, therefore payments for this can now also be made online.
Don’t forget the Friends of Summerfields are holding a fun quiz night tonight. The evening is for adults only. Bring your own drink and nibbles! £2.00 per person entry fee with a maximum of 6 per team. Come along and have some fun while raising funds for your children at Summerfields. 7pm start.
SCHOLASTIC BOOK CLUB
On Friday every family should have received the Scholastic Book Club flyer. They are trialling a new system whereby books are viewed and any orders are then placed online and NOT via the school. To view the books visit http://schools.scholastic.co.uk/summerfields-primary. Orders need to be placed by 27th January 2016 to receive free delivery to school. For every £1.00 you spend on books, school will earn 20p in Scholastic Rewards to buy more books for school. If you have any queries regarding this new system, please ask at the school office. Thank you.
If there is an incident in school involving your child, please remember to see a member of the school staff to assist in sorting the issue out and NOT approach other parents to try and sort the matter out yourself. Thank you.
WALK THE WIGHT
Children have now completed 17 miles towards Walk the Wight. Well done everyone!
Don’t forget to sign up to receive this newsletter by email every Friday. Go to our home page and complete the sign up form at the bottom of the page. You will then receive the newsletter on a Friday after 3.00pm. Not only does this cut down on paper but you never have to remember to pick up a newsletter again! Star Pupils will continue to receive a paper copy each week.
