ATTENDANCE

Congratulations to China Class who are October’s Attendance Stars!  They win the trophy this month as they had 98.43% attendance.  The whole school attendance was just above our target of 96.20% at 96.56%.

The attendance percentages for classes for October were as follows:-

England Class               93.33%

India Class                    94.90%

China Class                   98.43%

Australia Class              97.29%

Kenya Class                   97.65%

Peru Class                     97.94%

Great Britain Class     96.76%

 

BOTTLE TOPS

Thank you to everyone who has donated bottle tops for the Ability Dogs 4 Young People.  We have collected hundreds!  Well done to everyone concerned.  We have now stopped collecting these.  Thank you.

 

FRIENDS OF SUMMERFIELDS

Thank you to the Friends who attended the meeting at school today.  Friends will be holding a Christmas Fayre on Friday 20th November 2015 from 6.00pm-8.00pm.  If anyone would like to help run this event, please speak to the school office.  Friends run these events to raise money for your children, please try and support them if you are able.

 

DATES FOR YOUR DIARIES

Please see the reverse of this newsletter for important dates this half term.  Remember school is closed to pupils on Monday 30th November AND Tuesday 1st December 2015.  School also closes at 2.00pm on the last day of term, Friday 18th December 2015.

 

SCHOLASTIC BOOK CLUB

Every family should have received a Scholastic Book Club brochure this week.  Please can any orders be returned to school by Wednesday 18th November 2015.  Payment should be made by debit/credit card or cheque.  Unfortunately we are unable to accept cash payments for any book orders.  Cheques should be made payable to Scholastic and not Summerfields.  Thank you.

 

HAVE YOU SEEN THIS WEEK…?

Everyone has received an invitation to attend a Bedtime Story session on Thursday 12th November.  All replies by Monday please.  Reception class parents have been invited in to discuss the school’s reading scheme.  Please can everyone return their slips with their date preferences.

 

SCHOOL UNIFORM

As per our School Uniform policy, please can all parents ensure that children DO NOT wear nail polish to school.  If they do it will be removed.  Thank you.

 

WIGHT DIAMONDS BAND CONCERT

Wight Diamonds are holding a charity concert on Tuesday 17th November at 7.00pm at Trinity Theatre, Cowes in aid of the Wheels Appeal.  This charity raises funds for new wheelchairs for island residents.  Tickets are £5.00 on the door.

 

SUSTRANS

Well done to Peru Class who enjoyed a free smoothie breakfast on Wednesday for winning the competition Sustrans held before half term encouraging children to walk, scooter or cycle to school.

 

CHARTWELLS

Chartwells, our school meal providers, have a vacancy for a Kitchen Assistant.  If you are interested in applying, or finding out further details, please contact Chartwells on 550500 or speak to Christine, our cook.
