ATTENDANCE

Congratulations to Australia Class who are September’s Attendance Stars!  They win the trophy this month as they had 98.29% attendance.  The whole school attendance was above our target of 96.20% at 97.89%.

The attendance percentages for classes for September were as follows:-

England Class                            Published after half term

India Class                                   97.86%

China Class                                  98.03%

Australia Class                            98.29%

Kenya Class                                 97.74%

Peru Class                                    97.46%

Great Britain Class                     97.94%

On Tuesday this week the Education Welfare Service conducted a “late sweep” to monitor the number of children arriving late to school.  We take attendance very seriously and although it is still early in the term, we do not want parents to become complacent.  So far this term 172 minutes have been lost through lateness.  When a child is late for school, it does not just affect that child but the whole class can be disturbed as well.  If your child is late they may also find it difficult to settle into class or feel upset or anxious when they walk into assembly late.  Please remember your child must be in class, seated and ready to learn by 8.45am at the latest.  School staff will be monitoring this and if your child is late it will be recorded and you will be asked for a reason.  Therefore if the main door into the school is closed, that means your child is late for school, and you should report to the office.  Once your child’s details and reasons for lateness have been given, your child will then be taken into school.  Please note parents will not be allowed in school after 8.45am when the door will be closed.  Your co-operation in this matter would be very much appreciated.

DATA COLLECTION SHEETS AND MEDICAL INFORMATION

Thank you to everyone who has already returned the Data Collection and Medical Information sheets.  Even if there are no amendments/changes please can all sheets be signed and returned as soon as possible.  We will be chasing any missing forms next week so please update, sign and return via the “Green Box”.

HAVE YOU SEEN THIS WEEK…?

The following letters/information about forthcoming events have all been issued this week.  If you have not received them, look in your child’s bookbag, ask them to look in their drawer or as a last resort ask for a copy from the school office.  Please remember children will NOT be allowed to go on any trips unless we have parental permission IN WRITING in advance—verbal consent is no longer acceptable.

Year R have had a letter about a walk to Medina Arboretum.

Year 1 and 2 have had an exciting invitation to see the Rhyme Rocket Live show at Barton Primary.

All classes have received a letter about forthcoming trips planned for this academic year.

Please note these may be subject to change but we have tried our best to advise parents of costs that might be incurred this year.  We would like to point out that if your child is entitled to “Pupil Premium” then the cost of trips is reduced by 25%.  Earlier in September we sent out a flyer to every child in the school about Pupil Premium—if you think your family might be entitled, please ask at the school office.  Not only will your child receive a Free School Meal, we will also receive valuable funding for your child’s education.

There were also important letters about children in Year R now being collected from the lower playground and not from the front of the school and another about the forthcoming Parents’ Evenings which are being held shortly.

PARENTS’ EVENINGS

Parents’ evenings are taking place on Tuesday 13th and Thursday 15th October 2015.  Year 6 are taking place on Monday 12th October 2015 instead of the Tuesday.  AFTER school this Monday, 5th October 2015, sheets will be put up outside your child’s classrooms.  Year 1 and Year 2 will be put up in the hall near the disabled toilet due to the lack of space in the Key Stage 1 area.  If you do not normally come into school with your child, then they can make the appointment on your behalf, rather than asking the office to make it on your behalf.  Please can we encourage as many families as possible to attend this important opportunity to discuss your child’s progress.

Can we please reiterate that due to the number of children in each class, teachers are only able to offer “one slot” per child.  Therefore if parents are unable to attend together, then teachers should be contacted and an alternative suitable time and date arranged.
