GOODBYE
Goodbye and good luck to all our Year 6 pupils who left us today. We wish you all the very best for the future. We also say a goodbye and a huge thank you to Mrs Sutton and Mrs Haydon who also leave us today.
Have a great summer break and please remember we return to school on Thursday 6th September and from this day school will close at the new time of 3pm.
PRIMARY SCHOOLS ISLAND GAMES
A very big well done to everyone who took part in the Primary School Island Games on Saturday. We came 4th overall in both the athletics and the netball despite the awful weather that the netball players had to play in. A great result for Summerfields and thank you to Miss Parry and Mrs Philips for organising this event.
KATIEANN JACKSON
Thank you to everyone who sponsored Katieann’s hair cut in aid of the Earl Mountbatten Hospice. She raised over £300.00. Look out for pictures in the County Press.
NEWPORT CHILDREN’S CARNIVAL
Summerfields came first in Newport Children’s Carnival on Saturday — a very well done to everyone involved. Don’t forget to come along and support us at the evening procession this Saturday in Newport at 7.30pm.
MUFTI DAY FOR OLYMPIC WEEK
Thank you to everyone for your kind donations for our “mufti” sports person day on Monday — we raised £108.00.
MEDINA COLLEGE AWARDS
I have been informed by parents that at the recent Medina Awards Evening a large number of Summerfields pupils received awards. It is lovely to hear that our past pupils continue to work hard and achieve great things!
HOLIDAYS IN TERM TIME
Just to give you extra notice: from September we are bringing our attendance policy into line with Medina College and Barton Primary School. That will mean “zero tolerance” on holidays during school term time. Obviously we will send more information in September including our updated policy.
HOUSE CUP
The winners of the House Cup for this academic year is Arctic House. Throughout the year they have had consistently more house points than any other house. Well done Arctic. They will have their reward in September!
SCHOOL DINNERS
From September Pabulum will no longer be the caterers at Summerfields. Chartwells will be taking over and we are very pleased to confirm that our cook Christine will continue with us working for them. Your child will have brought home a menu that has been provided along with some information about the company. You will see that there has been a price increase from £1.85 to £2.00 per day. Can we please remind everyone that school meals should be paid for in advance, preferably termly or weekly, via the Green Box in the foyer. Many thanks.
NEWPORT ROMAN VILLA
To celebrate the Festival of Archaeology, Newport Roman Villa are having a special open day on Saturday 21st July from 11am-3pm. Admission will be just £1.00 per person and there will be lots of craft activities for families about time keeping such as sun dials and Roman water clocks.
